As the series' tagline teases, Making Up Anne is inspired by the true story of a total faker played by Ozark Emmy winner Julia Garner. The series tells the story of Anna Delvey who piques the interest of journalist Vivian (anna chlumsky) after the legendary German Instagram heiress stole the hearts of New York socialites along with her money.
Vivian has a lot to prove in her job and believes that Anna could be the key to her success if she can get the scammer to cooperate. The pair form a dark, funny, love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and Vivian races against the clock to answer a question everyone in New York City's upper echelon wants to know: who is Anna Delvey?
Scheduled to premiere on Friday, February 11 on the streamer, Making Anne Up is inspired by Jessica Pressler's New York Magazine article "How a wannabe 'It' Girl fooled New York's party people and their banks." Along with Garner and Chlumsky, the series cast includes Arian Moayed, Katie Lowes, Alexis Floyd, Anders Holm, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney and Laverne Cox.
