She reached 100 million followers in 2016 and three months after this achievement, the singer and actress suddenly left the platform to detoxify. “It had become something that consumed me. Justin Bieber also temporarily privatized his Instagram account in August 2016. The singer's decision came after his fans criticized him for uploading photos with 17-year-old Sofia Richie, the girl who was rumored at the time to be his sentimental partner. "I'm going to make my Instagram private if you don't stop the hate. This is getting out of hand. Meghan Markle, the fiancee of Prince Harry of England, closed her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts in January this year. Kensington Palace confirmed in a statement that the former American actress had left social media: "Mrs. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years. However, as she has not used these accounts for a time, has made the decision to close them". The move is in line with royal tradition and came shortly after Meghan Markle shut down her style and trend blog, called 'The Tig', in April 2017.
