These are the longest-running couples in Hollywood
The marriages of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson or Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens, among others, show that love can be lasting in the film industry
1.Meryl Streep and her husband
The relationship between Meryl Streep and her husband, the sculptor Don Gummer was a real crush. The three-time Oscar winner was in the throes of depression after her first boyfriend, whom she dated for three years, died of cancer when her brother introduced her to Don Gummer. After meeting for a few months, they decided to walk down the aisle that same year, in 1978, and since then, they have become one of the most solid and real marriages in the world of Hollywood. The fruit of this 40-year relationship is her four children: Henry Wolfe (38), a musician, Mamie (34) and Grace (31), both actresses, and Louisa (26), a model.
2.Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are known to be one of the happiest couples in Hollywood. The actors have been married for almost 30 years and have two sons: Chester and Truman. In addition, the actor is the father of Colin and Elizabeth, born from his previous relationship with the late Samantha Lewes. Although the marriage has been on a tightrope on occasion, together they have fought for love and have managed to get out of any situation, no matter how complicated it was, such as the breast cancer that the actress fought at the beginning of 2015 and that surpassed at the end of the same year. "We all know what kind of hell it is. It comes out of nowhere and everything else stops, because the important thing is to pay attention to the countless things that need to be taken care of," Hanks explained then.
3.Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens
If you have to talk about lasting marriage, you can not miss that of the actors Kirk Douglas (101) and Anne Buydens (98), who have been married for almost 64 years. Before Anne, Kirk had already been married to American actress Diana Webster, with whom he had his two eldest sons, Michael and Joel. The marriage only lasted seven years. They divorced in 1951 as a result of the actor's infidelities, which he has not hesitated to admit in different interviews and even in his own memoirs that he has always been a womanizer. Three years later he married Anne Buydens, the woman who, in his words, "has given him stability" and, in addition, two more children, Eric and Peter. "I was lucky to find my soulmate and I think our marriage is wonderful," the actor said in an interview with 'Closer' magazine.
4.Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli
British actor Colin Firth has been married to Italian producer Livia Giuggioli for more than 20 years and together they have two sons, Luca and Matteo, aged 16 and 14 respectively. The winner of an Oscar for 'The King's Speech' obtained dual nationality last year from his wife's country of origin, although since they got married in 1997 the interpreter of 'Bridget Jones's Diary' feels like an adopted Italian because her family residence is in Italy, her children have been raised there and her favorite food is pasta.
5.Hawn and Kurt Russell
Actors Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell form another of the longest-running and most respected couples in Hollywood. Hawn was previously married to actor and director Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1974, and then to musician Bill Hudson from 1976 to 1980, with whom she had two children, both actors, Oliver and Kate Hudson. In 1983 Hawn and Russell began dating after meeting on several shoots. Perhaps the secret of their success after almost 35 years together and a son in common, Wyatt Russell, is not having passed through the altar and continue in love as the first day. "To you, Goldie, I owe my wonderful life," Russell said in May of last year after both received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the same time.
