A difficult childhood
Charlize had a difficult childhood. At school she had integration problems. She suffered a lot of teasing from her peers between the ages of seven and eleven. An illness left him without teeth until he was eleven years old. She wore horn-rimmed glasses. She was not successful with boys. She wasn't in the popular girl group. According to her own words, she more or less was a disaster in elementary school. By going to high school she managed to become tougher and immune to that kind of thing.

Her father was alcoholic and violent. He caused her family a lifetime of suffering. One day when Charlize was fifteen, her father came home drunk and threatened to kill Charlize and her mother. He started shooting at Charlize's bedroom door. Her mother immediately grabbed a revolver and shot her.
Charlize's father died on the spot.
South African courts ruled that he was self-defense and her mother was cleared of charges.
Chasing a dream
Her mother decided to get her out of there and sent her to the United States with the dream of becoming a dancer. She initially went to New York for a few days to work as a model, however, she ended up staying all winter in a friend's windowless basement apartment. She was penniless and taught at the Joffrey Ballet dance academy, until her knees gave out. When Charlize injured her knee, her dream of being a dancer vanished. When she realized that she would never be able to dance again she fell into a great depression. Her mother traveled from South Africa to be with her.
The big opportunity
She happened to be discovered in a bank while she was trying to cash a check and began working as an actress. At 21 years old she shocked the whole world as a Martini girl, her incredible physique left no one indifferent. Her 1.77 height and her green eyes opened many doors for him.
