The actor opened up about his mental health problem.
Jim Carrey is known to be one of the most iconic comedy actors of the 1990s. Although his work consisted for a long time of making the public smile, his personal life today is completely the opposite. Since his then-girlfriend, Cathriona White committed suicide in 2015, he has faced severe depression.
His mental health condition worsened when he was sued for giving White prescription drugs. Carrey denied the accusations but has yet to go through the courts.
During an interview, published in the latest issue of I, the 55-year-old Canadian star said that he is currently "sometimes happy" and explained: "Right now, I don't have depression. There is no experience of depression. I had it. for years, but now, when it rains, it rains, but it doesn't last. It doesn't stay long enough to submerge me and drown me more."
Jim has also announced in recent public appearances that he is "liberated", without having to respond to pressure from the film industry and that he wants to leave a share of humor in the world. “I don't care what people think of me after I die. All I want is for people to think of me as a good energy here, a nice fragrance that has been left behind,” he expressed.
Nonetheless, he doesn't deny that he's still not quite over it: 'What's happening is really good, but there are some really bad ones as well.' “Some people have approached me in recent years to break a portion of the Holy Grail for themselves, but the Grail is not something you can break. So they're going to learn it the hard way. It's not nice,” he confessed.
One in twenty Argentines suffers from depression. It is a disease that is growing in the world at an alarming rate and is a risk factor for heart attack, stroke, and early cognitive decline. In addition to the fact that it affects the quality of life of the people who suffer from it, it has been a concern for some time as a cause of disability and work absenteeism.
The World Health Organization (WHO) places Argentina in the middle of the table in terms of the prevalence rate of this disease, with just over 5%. The causes are multiple, from psychological and social, and at the same time individual, since each person lives their own uniqueness. Among its symptoms are suffering, feelings of sadness combined with a loss of interest in things, and sleep or appetite disorders, among others.
