Florence Pugh revealed in an Instagram post how hard it was to film the 'crying' scene in the movie Midsommar.
Said scene shows her character 'Dani', in a full panic attack, after discovering her boyfriend.
During this scene, Florence experienced very strong emotions that left a mark on her.
2. Florence revealed that the original scene was much longer and left her with mental scars
In the crying scene, we can see Florence crying uncontrollably, while a group of women imitate her crying.
Florence said that the scene lasted much longer than what was seen in the film, and by the end of it all the women were visibly shaken.
3. Florence revealed that to achieve the crying, she began to imagine dark and terrible things
Florence revealed that it was never easy for her to cry on camera, because she considers crying to be something "very personal".
Florence revealed that for each crying scene, she had to imagine horrible things in her head and this took a toll on her mental health.
4. Florence thinks she 'abused herself' for the sake of acting
Florence said she 'abused herself' to get the role of 'Dani' in Midsommar.
“When I did it, she was so wrapped up in [Dani] and I've never had this with any of my characters before,” Florence said. "I've never played someone in so much pain before, and I'd put myself in really horrible situations that maybe other actors didn't need to do, but I just imagined the worst things."

After finishing the filming of 'Midsommar', Florence took a plane to Boston, to film the movie 'Little Woman'.
However, this abrupt change of environment left mental scars on the actress.

Florence revealed that when her plane took off from Sweden, she felt like she was leaving her character, Dani, in the hands of the pagan sect.

“I definitely felt like she had been left there in that field to be abused…almost as if she had created this person. and then I left her there to go and make another movie.”
