Six good actor does the bad role, and an award-winning actor really deserved it

1. Nicholas Cage as Edward Malus in The Wicker Man (2006)

A terrible remake of an excellent movie can only be saved by its leading actor. Obviously, Cage doesn't measure up. Turning a horror movie into a comedy is quite an achievement. The scenes where the actor walks around dressed as a bear, punches old ladies, and screams as if he were possessed are priceless.

2. Cate Blanchett as Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

The fourth film in the Dr. Jones saga was unfortunate in every way. But Blanchett's performance as a Soviet villain is a terrible thing. It is a simpler caricature than we could see in any cartoon.

3. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Depp and Tim Burton, Tim Burton and Depp (and Helena Bonham Carter). A combo that would tire anyone because it is repetitive. So when the second Disney adaptation premiered with the actor as Mad Hatter, seeing him in his umpteenth eccentric role already had us fed up.

4. Dennis Hopper as Bowser Koopa in Super Mario Bros. (1993)

First of all, who came up with the idea of adapting the video game about the plumber to the cinema? Dennis Hopper must have needed money before becoming the monstrous turtle king and malevolent antagonist. Only in this movie, he's a corrupt politician who yells the word "Goombah!" for no reason.

5. Robert De Niro as Beloved Leader in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (2000)

Another stereotypical villain, here we get to see one of Hollywood's greatest actors playing a pseudo-Nazi general (including Monocle) with a high-pitched voice. In addition, he gives us a terrible scene where he parodies Taxi Driver in which we see a magnificent drama actor play the clown.

6. Jim Carrey as Walter Paul Sparrow in The Number 23 (2007)

Jim Carrey is a comedic actor who makes the occasional foray into dramatic roles. Sometimes he succeeds, other times he fails miserably. His role as a numerology obsessive in this Joel Schumacher film is the perfect example.
