A man posed as actor Brad Pitt, fell in love with a Spanish woman and scammed her out of $186,000. The woman realized the deception a year later.
A woman was scammed by a man who pretended to be the famous actor Brad Pitt, who even made her fall in love so that the girl was giving him money. In total, the scammer received $186,000.
It all started when the criminals convinced the girl to be part of the actor's supposed fan club. Later she asked him for money so that she could speak with him and this was repeated for several months.
The woman was contacted through a Facebook page of the actor's fan club. They started by promising that she would meet him and that she would be able to talk to him. She then sent her letters to her supposed representatives.
The victim's lawyer reported that at first, they gained her trust only with letters and messages, once the woman believed that she was really talking to Brad Pitt, it was her when the requests for money began.
“The relationship began at the beginning of 2022. And after a few months without financial requests and once they already had confidence, that was when they began the request for money. They start with small amounts and end with large sums, in this case, up to 35,000 euros," the lawyer said.
Woman discovers that she was scammed by a fake Brad Pitt
After more than a year of deception, the woman discovered that it was all a scam since she gave money several times to have an appointment with Brad Pitt, but the actor never came to the meetings and always had a justification, such as that he was recording, had attended an award ceremony or was ill.
“When she agrees to the scammer's requests, but he doesn't do anything to see her, he becomes suspicious. He told her that she would come to Spain to record a film, for which she asked him for money. However, alarms go off when no one comes here, nor is any film recorded, ”explained the lawyer.
In addition, the scammers made the Spanish woman believe that she had a loving relationship with Brad Pitt, but he asked her to be discreet and not tell anyone to avoid leaking to the press.
