After more than a month and a half of litigation before the judge and almost four years of facing lawsuits, actor Johnny Depp won his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, also actress Amber Heard.
Even though the popular jury also found him responsible for defaming Heard on one occasion, the victory of this media trial has been clear for Johnny Depp, who will only have to compensate his ex-wife with about two million euros, compared to the almost ten million that she will have to pay.
A decision that has caused quite a stir at the international level, with thousands of spectators, followers, and onlookers who followed the process closely and without losing detail. Thus, almost two months after its inception, the jury, made up of five men and two women, unanimously determined that three of the sentences written by Amber Heard in her opinion column published in 2018 in The Washington Post were false, defamatory, and maliciously written, despite never mentioning her ex-husband.
The actress was present during the reading of the verdict, initially scheduled for 9:00 p.m. (Spanish time), but postponed by the judge herself for a few minutes. Dressed completely in black and with a somber expression, the actress entered the room a few minutes before her reading, where she remained flanked by her lawyers. However, Johnny Depp, who has attended all the sessions that have been held in the trial, was not present for the reading of the verdict, being represented by his team of lawyers.

After the beginning of the deliberations of the jury and the end of the face-to-face trial on Friday, May 27, the actor surprised his followers by appearing just a few hours later on the other side of the world, as a special guest at the concert that his great friend Jeff Beck was offering in Sheffield (United Kingdom). The actor thus moved to the British city for a new performance accompanying his friend Jeff Beck, who offers a new concert this Thursday, June 2 at The Sage, in the nearby city of Gateshead.
According to the workers who were in the pub at the time, the singer couldn't have been nicer to them: "He came first, he didn't want anyone to know he was there, so we gave him a private space," Janine Latchford, the manager of the venue, tells Chronicle Live. "He's the sweetest man I've ever seen," she said, recounting how the actor took an interest in the employees, had the typical plate of fish and chips accompanied by a soft drink, and kept asking curiosities about the history of the city, smiling all the time.

After reading the verdict, the actor used his social networks to express how he felt. Relieved, Depp thanks Justice for giving him back the life he lost after the divorce from his ex-wife: “Six years ago, my life, the lives of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported us and believed in us changed forever. Everything in the blink of an eye, ”he begins by explaining.
“False, very serious, and criminal allegations were made against me through the media, which unleashed an endless barrage of hateful content, although I was never charged. It had already circled the globe twice in a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and career. Six years later, the jury has given me back my life.
“From the beginning, the goal in bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Telling the truth was something I owed to my children and to all those who have stood firm in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing that I have achieved it as a family”, insists the actor, greatly appreciating the support received and trusting that he has served as an example for many other people in the same situation.
