One particularly uncomfortable aspect involved having her modesty thongs glued to her body during scenes. Johnson explained that these strapless thongs had a sticky adhesive at the top, akin to nipple pasties but for underwear. To prevent them from falling off, they would superglue them to her body. Despite the peculiar experience, she wore two of them to feel more covered, although she admitted it was a bizarre sensation.
As for Jamie Dornan, he had to use a "little pouch" to cover his private parts during the scenes. Contrary to any romantic notions, Johnson clarified that shooting these scenes was far from glamorous or enjoyable.

She admitted that these scenes were never easy or casual, and they never got used to them.
