The incredible love story of Matt Damon and the Argentine Luciana Barroso

It was a classic "at first sight", they have been married for fifteen years, they renewed their vows in the Caribbean, and four daughters complete a perfect picture

The incredible love story of Matt Damon and the Argentine Luciana Barroso

In the story that follows, its protagonist went to that Miami bar… but for none of the classic reasons. She was running away!

Testimony, in his own words:

We were filming Stuck on You, with Greg Kinnear and Eva Mendes…, when a group of fans surrounded me, harassed me like a swarm of wasps, and escaped. I hid behind the bar, he looked at me, and he asked me what she was doing there…

"She", the bartender, in addition to being beautiful, was Luciana Bozán Barroso, 27 years old and born a long way from Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Matt was born, and also from that Miami bar: Province of Salta, Argentine Republic. "The cute", according to her tourist nickname...

Luciana was not new to the United States. Seven years earlier, at 20, she had Alexia, her daughter, as a single mother, she emigrated to study interior decoration and worked in that bar and restaurant to survive...

According to Paulo Pinchente, the owner of the place, the film set of Pegado was exactly opposite, and part of the cast ate there. Paulo swears that Luciana attended to Matt more than once... but perhaps, because of the mixed voices, the laughter, and the noise of the place, he didn't notice her...

But that couple needed a cinematic shock. The eternal love at first sight, the arrow in the center of the heart, etc.

And this is how Matt tells it: "They say that something incredible happens to you when you meet the woman of destiny..., and it did. I swear to God that something indescribable happened to me. Until then, in my twenties, I walked from here to there wondering if I'd either settle down or be single for life - a thought that bothered me. But I found the right person... and it was like being struck by lightning!"

Millionaire –one of the best payments in Hollywood–, surrounded by women (he had fiery stories with Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, and Minnie Driver), with millions of fans as the hero of the Bourne saga, assigned to danger, vertigo, and rain of bullets, is his antithesis in real life.

So much so, that between the night at the bar, his marriage proposal, the expensive ring bought in an exclusive jewelry store in Washington, and the wedding in a ceremony without pageantry... less than two years have passed.

From then on, Luciana did not leave him. She accompanied him to the filming of The Bourne Supremacy in Sydney, Australia, and in Prague. To Rome for the filming of the blockbuster Oceans Twelve – here titled The New Big Scam, and to Morocco, one of the locations for Syriana.

Inseparable, Matt came to declare in an interview: "I am terrified of losing my wife."

Inseparable, yes. But not without a couple of very strong crises.

The first is Luciana's tiredness "for having been pregnant for so many years in a row." The second, the earthquake that meant for Matt the divorce of his childhood friend and movie partner Ben Affleck, who separated from the actress and television producer Jennifer Garner for allegedly infidelity with a babysitter, and threatened him with a colossal sum to carry out the divorce on good terms: 140 million dollars!

Flesh and nail friends, Matt decided to comfort Ben... by accompanying him on his excursions -day and night- as a brand new (and not very hurt) bachelor. Ergo, he withdrew from Luciana for a while, and she put him between a rock and a hard place.

If we divorce, I also want 140 million dollars.

But the waters returned, slow and calm, to the shore… And so that nothing – not even a shadow – would remain in their lives, Matt and Luciana remarried in 2015 to celebrate their first decade of love.

By the way, such a romantic ceremony, the only thing missing was a shower of flowers and honey.

It was on the volcanic Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, once owned by the British Crown, independent since 1979… and only suitable – with very early reservations – for deep-funded wallets.
