Brad Pitt once again raises a legal challenge against the actress after accusing her of illegally selling her share to a Russian tycoon.
After the legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, a new couple once again raises the judicial contest. In that case, it is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The couple met in 2004 during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and began a relationship shortly after. After more than a decade together, and 3 biological children together, the couple divorced in 2016 and finalized their divorce in 2019.
However, the repercussions of their separation are far from over. In the last few hours, Pitt filed a new lawsuit against Angelina Jolie. In it, he accuses the actress of damaging the reputation of her wine company by selling half of it to a "stranger."
In 2008, the couple purchased a majority stake in Chateau Miraval, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The acquisition comprised both the 35-room mansion and the property's vineyard, which has been the source of its profitable wine business. It was even there where they got married in 2014. When they bought Miraval, the acting couple made a pact to never sell their personal interests in the company without the consent of the other.
As the trial over Angelina's sale of Miraval unfolds, the 58-year-old actor filed a new lawsuit in which he claims the actress "tried to cause him harm" by selling her interest in the wine company. . This has emerged according to court documents presented by Pitt's legal team last Friday, June 3, and accessed by People magazine.
In his filing, the actor's lawyers say Miraval became his great "passion" and grew "into a multimillion-dollar global business and one of the most respected rosé wine producers in the world."
Likewise, the interpreter says that his ex-wife sold her interests in the winery in October 2021 to Tenute del Mondo, which is owned by Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, who controls the Stoli Group. According to the presentation made by Pitt, said business group would be determined to "take control of Miraval."
"Jolie pursued and then consummated the alleged sale in secret, deliberately keeping Pitt in the dark and knowingly violating Pitt's contractual rights," says the court filing. It even claims that Shefler launched a hostile takeover of Miraval and is trying to obtain "confidential and proprietary information for the benefit of its competing company."
His team also accuses Shefler of having "ruthless business tactics and dubious professional associations," which "jeopardizes the reputation of the brand Pitt so carefully built." They also added that "Jolie has tried to force Pitt to associate with a stranger and, even worse, a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions."
Brad is now seeking damages “in an amount to be proven at trial” along with the alleged sale made by Angelina to be declared “null and void.” The actor's defense has requested that the trial be by jury. Without a doubt, we will have to wait and see how this judicial battle continues, which will surely have new instances.
