It was enough for the Batman actor to speak with the comedian once to decide to distance himself from him.

Christian Bale didn't speak to Chris Rock on the Amsterdam set

There are shoots in which everything happens in harmony and others that are a battlefield. Something all this happened to Christian Bale with Chris Rock, two of the protagonists of the film Amsterdam. However, the reasons that led the former Batman to distance himself from his co-star were most unusual.

In a recent interview, Christian Bale told what the experience of working with Chris Rock was like, and explained the unusual reason why he decided to ignore the comedian during recording. As is known, the protagonist of American Psycho immerses himself in depth in each of his roles and seeks to deviate from his characterizations as little as possible, even during long breaks during filming. And the problem arose when Rock's presence ended up "taking him out of character."

In the note, the actor confessed: “Chris is terribly funny. I remember the first day. I was very excited to meet him, as I am a big fan of his stand-up comedy. Then he comes in and starts telling a story because director David O. Russell had told him to do that, and I loved it. But it turns out that Chris is too funny, and I soon discovered that it was stopping me from performing because all of a sudden I was just Christian laughing at the things Chris Rock did.”

Amsterdam is set in the 1930s and follows a trio of stalwart friends who become embroiled in a false murder accusation. Along the way, the protagonists will meet several strange individuals while finding themselves involved in the middle of a great conspiracy. The group, made up of two soldiers played by Bale and Johan David Washington and a nurse (Margot Robbie) find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.

The film has a luxury cast, which includes Robert De Niro, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taylor Swift, Mike Myers, Rami Malek, and Zoe Saldaña. To find out more about this story we will have to wait for its premiere in November. The film's director, David O. Russell, was also in charge of the script and production of the film, his first feature film since the release of Joy, the name of the hit, in 2015.

As is known, Chris Rock is one of the most talked about figures of the year. While presenting an award during the most recent Oscars, he mocked Jada Pinkett's baldness caused by alopecia. In response, Will Smith left his seat and slapped the comedian. Although at first many took the side of the Men in Black actor, the violent episode took a toll on his career and plunged it into limbo.
