The Irish fighter admitted that patience is a virtue that he "continues to work on"

Conor McGregor was released after spending a couple of hours locked up

Conor McGregor paid bail of USD 12,500 so that the Miami police would not put him in jail.

The Irish fighter was charged with theft and criminal mischief after last Monday he snatched his cell phone from a fan who had taken a couple of photographs of him outside the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

McGregor reportedly swatted the phone his follower was holding and then stepped on it several times. Police said the UFC fighter picked up the phone and left with it.

According to what the victim of the assault told investigators, the stolen phone was worth $1,000. The officers detained the Irishman even though he resisted and refused to be transferred.

He was eventually taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

In a statement, McGregor's lawyer spoke about the incident. "On Monday night, Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation over a cell phone that led to a call to authorities. Mr. McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation," the statement said.

"Patience is a virtue that I continue to work on. I love my fans very much. Thank you all," the fighter wrote on his Instagram account.

It is not the first time that the fighter has been arrested in the United States. The previous one occurred in April 2018, when he was accused of attacking two UFC fighters in Brooklyn who were traveling on a bus after a mixed martial arts event.

That time he faced three charges of assault and one of vandalism, in addition to having to post bail of $50,000 to be released. In turn, the judge in charge of the case issued a protection order for the fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg, who were injured in the incident caused by The Notorious and could not participate in a UFC event.

Conor completed the community service hours that New York City had required of him. According to his lawyer Bruce Maffeo to the New York Post, McGregor attended two Brooklyn churches to perform maintenance work.
