It was precisely in Iron Man that Gwyneth Paltrow acted alongside Robert Downey Jr., with the character of Virginia "Pepper" Potts. Tony Stark and Pepper's fictional romance began back in 2008 and continues to this day in other MCU feature films.

The actress confessed in one of the episodes of her Goop Podcast that she felt that when she kissed Robert Downey Jr. she was doing it with her brother. "This is literally like kissing my brother," confessed the 50-year-old actress and singer. She later added: "It was one of the worst moments of my life."

Always respectful and referring mainly to the fact that she has a lot of appreciation for him, Gwynnie could never hide the shame she felt about kissing Tony Stark. "My relationship with Robert Downey Jr. was obviously forged through all the 'Iron Man' and 'Avengers' movies. In 2016, in an interview with Howard Stern, Robert Downey Jr. joked about the relationship that her character had with the Californian actress: "I have to have her in these movies again to be able to kiss her on-screen again."
