Kristen Bell explained on the Armchair Expert podcast that the number of times she showers not only depends on the smell but also on the environmental factor: “California has always been in a drought.”
The Frozen actress said on the program that her decision is affected by the temporary conditions: “It's like a responsibility for your environment. We don't have a lot of water, so when I shower, I grab the girls and put them in with me so we all use the same water.”
The conversation has arisen after the protagonist of the series The Good Place, like many other celebrities, has expressed her poor habit of washing: “No joke, I shower when the smell appears. “That's what tells you that you need to shower,” she said in an interview on Daily Blast Live.
Her husband, Dax Shepard, who was also present in the podcast interview, clarified that when their daughters, Lincoln (8 years old) and Delta (6 years old), were little, the situation was different: “We bathed them regularly during the early years when your bedtime routine was so vital. Once that step was no longer necessary to get them to sleep, we took our foot off the accelerator.”
Shepard has also explained which of the two showers more often and why: “Kristen has better hygiene than me. Generally, I think this is because she wears makeup much more often than I do, so she has to take it off.”
Other celebrities who have admitted to showering only when necessary are, for example, actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mila Kunis, and Ashton Kutcher, although there are also celebrities who believe otherwise, such as Dwayne Johnson.
