Nina Dobrevse said goodbye to the series that made her famous, 'The Vampire Chronicles', to explore other paths in her career. After having released a few movies, the actress returns to television with 'Fam'.
She became a mass idol playing Elena Gilbert in 'The Vampire Diaries', but years ago Nina Dobrev decided to take the next step in her career.
Now that she is preparing her return to television with the CBS sitcom 'Fam', about an atypical family, the actress, who has just turned 30, explains why it seemed like the time to return.
"Well, I wasn't looking to do television. It wasn't on my radar, to be honest. But when the opportunity arose, I read the script, I loved the story, I loved the character, I've never done a sitcom, and I'm a big fan of 'Friends' I loved watching 'Friends' in the '90s when I was growing up, but I had never really watched it with a critical eye and thinking about how it was made.
I didn't realize it was in front of a live audience, and when I heard it, it scared me, but it also made me say yes, obviously, because I love doing things that make me nervous and that hopefully lead to learn and grow and put me to the test. So I felt like it was like the perfect storm."
Being her first series role after the success of 'The Vampire Diaries', Dobrev has reflected on how different the two fictions are.
"It's super different. For starters, the fact that it's with a live audience is a big difference. It's like doing a mini-play every week, and you have a new script every week that you have to memorize. And the lines are They change every day! Sometimes even during the recording itself.
