Ryan Reynolds reveals the curious way in which his relationship with Blake Lively began

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are one of the strongest, and funniest, couples in Hollywood. Part of their love story was already known to everyone, thanks to the details that they tell us, but it seems that there is always something new to discover and this time it was Ryan who, showing off his usual sense of humor, revealed new information about how his relationship with Blake Lively began.

The actor has been a guest on the 'SmartLess podcast, hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Reynolds wanted to give some extra details about how it all started. The actors met in 2011, during the filming of 'Green Lantern', a film that did not achieve the expected success, but which helped them forge a beautiful friendship that would later give rise to their love story.

“We were friends and colleagues, and about a year and a half later we had a double date, but we were dating different people,” Ryan explained, confirming what both had already said about the origin of their love. Apparently, this was one of the most uncomfortable dates of his life, especially for his respective partners that day, who had to watch sparks fly between them.

“We always kept in touch casually and the next thing that happened is that one day she told me that she was going to Boston. I was also going to Boston those days and I suggested we go together,” a risky move, but effective, given that during that trip she changed her life forever. “I begged him to sleep with me,” the protagonist of ‘Deadpool’ joked then about what happened on that trip, displaying the sense of humor that characterizes him. "A week later I thought, 'We should buy a house together,' and we did," he said.

Jokes aside, the truth is that time has shown that the friendship they forged before taking the step and trying as a couple was a great idea for them. Proof of this is his three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty, whom he also spoke about during the podcast, ensuring that the time of confinement at home was not easy for them. “They had a bad time,” he said, referring to the virtual classes of the two oldest, who are 6 and 4 years old respectively.

“I was looking for outside help left and right. He was reading books. He was trying to somehow steer the ship. But Blake did it much better than me because I am also a child,” he acknowledged, causing laughter from those present. The truth is that the couple seems to have found a way to find a balance between their professional and personal lives, something that is not always easy when both are dedicated to acting.

For the family dynamic to work, Ryan is clear about what they have to do: “Blake and I don't make movies at the same time. When Blake is ready to do some things, I'll leave and then we'll go back and forth. She will make a movie and I will be with her on the set hanging out with the kids.” Lively is adapting after the hard blow suffered a few weeks ago, when her father, actor Ernie Lively, died due to a series of heart complications.

One has become the other's best support, in good times but also on less happy occasions, like when they became the center of controversy for getting married on an old plantation in South Carolina, a detail that has always been discussed. They will regret it and it will tarnish the memory of their wedding day.
