While talking to his ex, Pitt expressed his fondness for Paltrow and how her late father, Bruce Paltrow, had a significant impact on him during their engagement. Bruce passed away in 2002.

Paltrow shared a touching memory of her father's reaction to her engagement, saying he realized he was gaining a child and was moved to tears. This prompted a warm exchange between Pitt and Paltrow.

When Paltrow humorously mentioned that they didn't get married but she finally found the right Brad to marry (referring to her marriage to TV writer Brad Falchuk in 2018), Pitt laughed and agreed, "Right... Man, it all works out, doesn't it?"

Pitt, 58, went on to express his appreciation for Paltrow as a friend in his life, saying, "And it's wonderful to have you as a friend now." Paltrow reciprocated, saying, "It is."

Pitt added, "And I do love you," to which Paltrow responded, "I love you so much."

Pitt also praised Paltrow's father, Bruce, for his profound influence on him and for fostering the independence and opinions of Paltrow and her brother, Jake Paltrow. Pitt noted that Bruce encouraged their individuality and provided a bit of wisdom when needed.

He described Bruce as occasionally tough but always offering guidance rather than strict punishment. Pitt highlighted the fun and loving relationship between Bruce and Paltrow, emphasizing how much Bruce adored his daughter.

After parting ways with Pitt, Paltrow married Chris Martin in 2003 and later separated from the musician in 2014. They share two children: Apple, 18, and Moses, 16.

Paltrow remarried Falchuk in 2018, while Martin has been in a relationship with Dakota Johnson since 2017, keeping their relationship largely private.

Meanwhile, Pitt married Jennifer Aniston in 2000 but announced their separation in 2005. He later married his "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-star Angelina Jolie in 2014. Although they separated in 2016, the former couple has six children together: Maddox (20), Pax (18), Zahara (17), Shiloh (15), Vivienne (13), and Knox (13).

Paltrow previously discussed her friendships with her exes, including Pitt, in an interview with Harper's Bazaar in January 2020, stating, "I'm friends with Brad Pitt. I really have no hard feelings."
