In her upcoming memoir, "The Woman in Me," American singer Britney Spears reveals that during the peak of her career in the early 2000s, she turned to drugs to alleviate her depression.

The pop star candidly writes that her "drug of choice" during the mid-2000s was the ADHD medication Adderall.

Spears clarifies that the media's portrayal of her as "wild" during her outings with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan wasn't entirely accurate. While she never had an interest in hard drugs and didn't have a drinking problem, she admitted to using Adderall quite liberally.

Her reason, she explained, was that Adderall provided her with a few hours of feeling "less depressed." Last year, Spears also claimed that her mother, Lynne Spears, once slapped her for partying late into the night with Hilton and Lohan. She shared an incident where she was dropped off at her beach house with her kids after a night of partying until 4 in the morning.

In another part of her revealing memoir, Britney confirms a long-standing rumor that her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake ended their three-year relationship via text message. She described being "devastated" by the breakup in 2002 and considered quitting her career entirely.

Reflecting on that time, Britney mentions that while she was in Louisiana, Timberlake was happily enjoying his time in Hollywood. The media painted her as a "heartbreaker" who had shattered the dreams of America's golden boy. She also hinted at Timberlake's infidelity with another celebrity but chose not to disclose the person's name.

The former child stars began dating in the late 1990s, and Britney became unexpectedly pregnant in 2000. However, she felt Timberlake was "definitely not happy" about it and was certain he didn't want to be a father. Britney underwent a painful abortion later that year.

She recalls that the decision was difficult, with Spears explaining that her ex-boyfriend had been opposed to the idea, stating they were too young for parenthood. At the time, both were about 19 years old. Britney concludes, "I know some people may criticize me for this, but I agreed to not have the baby. I don't know if it was the right decision. If it had been solely up to me, I would never have done it."
