As per her publicist, Suzanne Somers succumbed to an aggressive form of cancer, a relentless battle she fought for over two decades. Although she triumphed over the disease on several occasions, it eventually overcame her.

"Suzanne Somers peacefully passed away at her home during the early hours of October 15. She courageously battled an aggressive form of breast cancer for more than 23 years. She was surrounded by her beloved husband, Alan Hamel, her son Bruce, and close family members," stated her publicist, R. Couri Hay.

R. Couri Hay mentioned that the family had planned to gather on the star's 77th birthday, but her untimely passing has led them to celebrate her remarkable life and express gratitude to her millions of devoted fans and followers who held her in high regard. A private burial is planned for this week, with a public funeral scheduled for the following month.

In a conversation with Page Six, a friend of the actress revealed that her partner never left her side and was with her until the end. She "passed away in her newly all-green home in Palm Springs while sleeping with her beloved husband beside her."

WHO WAS SUZANNE SOMERS?

Suzanne Somers, an American actress, lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 76, a disease she first faced when she was 50. Her fight against cancer dates back three decades earlier when she was diagnosed with skin cancer at the age of 20.

"I've been living with cancer since I was 20, and every time that relentless adversary reappeared, I fought back. I strive not to let this insidious disease control me... It's a recurrence of my breast cancer. Like any cancer survivor, when that dreaded feeling of 'it's back' sets in, your stomach knots up. Then, I put on my armor and engage in the battle," Somers revealed in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" in July 2023.

Following her cancer diagnosis in 2000, the "Three's Company" actress embraced an organic, chemical-free lifestyle. She consumed around 60 vitamins daily, including hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes to aid her digestion after radiation therapy. Her health improved significantly due to this new way of life, according to her medical team.
