Thomas Markle delivered a no-holds-barred account of his life, marking what many see as his ultimate revenge against his daughter.
While Meghan Markle had been vocal about her desire for more privacy from the British media, which played a significant role in her resignation from the royal family, her father aligned himself with that very media to unveil the story of her life before she joined the "stiff" British royal family and to express his updated thoughts about his daughter.
The documentary, titled "Thomas Markle: My Story," featured two never-before-seen videos and images, including newborn snapshots, high school graduation moments, and Christmastime scenes, along with pictures of Meghan alongside her mother, Doria Ragland.
Even during Meghan's pregnancy and beyond, her father has been a constant presence in her life, contributing to a series of controversies surrounding the Duchess. His involvement has been one of the primary reasons for her ongoing struggles.
In the documentary, Thomas, who worked as a lighting director in the film and television industry, also shared his feelings about how Meghan's attitude changed after she met Prince Harry, claiming she stopped wanting to see him. Furthermore, he accused Harry, whom he's never met in person, of behaving like a "sensitive" 12-year-old boy.
Thomas Markle, without any sense of guilt, defended his decision to speak in the film and accept payment for the interview. He stated, "I don't mind. At this point, they owe me. The royal family owes me. Harry owes me, Meghan owes me. For what I've been through, I should be rewarded. My daughter told me that when she reaches my senior years, she will take care of me. Now that I'm in my final years, it's time for her to take care of her dad."
The couple has an ongoing lawsuit against the publisher of the Mail On Sunday for publishing a private letter from Meghan to her father, which he himself leaked. Speculation is rife that Thomas Markle may be called to testify in the trial, though not in defense of the Duchess.
Thomas considers himself a defender of the British crown, asserting that Meghan and Harry are "destroying it" and likening them to turning it into a "Walmart," referencing the well-known low-cost supermarket chain. He also accused his daughter of achieving the dream of becoming a princess and then seemingly discarding it for money, launching yet another scathing attack.
The once-amicable relationship between Meghan and her father unraveled publicly on the day of her wedding at Windsor Castle's chapel. Following his exposure for falsifying photographs to sell to the media, he did not escort Meghan down the aisle as planned, citing a heart problem, from which he subsequently recovered to grant multiple interviews portraying himself as a victim of Meghan's perceived snobbery, thereby adding another layer of conflict to their strained relationship.
