The former Colombian president captivated some residents of Jardín, Antioquia, with an anecdote that features the Hollywood star
The former president of the Republic, Alvaro Uribe Velez, remembered for democratic security and for having one of the highest popularity in the country, is in the news this time, but not for any political fight, but for an anecdote he told while giving a speech to a group of supporters in one of the most touristic municipalities in the department of Antioquia.
The curious story that the Paisa political leader told was made known by the tweeter DonaPily (@dona_pily2), a staunch follower of the head and image of the Democratic Center, who published on her X (Twitter) account a video in which the former president, who awakens love and hate, revealed a memory with one of the great Hollywood actresses.
“The confessions of Presi Momoso. Today in Jardín, Antioquia. They invited him, as president, to a meeting with Angelina Jolie, and he came to the house to ask Mrs. Lina, who is Angelina Jolie, and Mrs. Lina tells him, "Don't go asking that in public, you look like a mountaineer," commented his follower.
But what really happened?
In the video, which lasts around 2 minutes and 12 seconds, who lived in the Casa de Nariño for two periods, commented how a few years ago he was invited by the Clinton Foundation to talk about two great social commitments of his government.
“I want to invite you to the Clinton Foundation to talk about two social programs that have seemed very important to me: Forest Ranger Family and also the Opportunity Banks program. He told me that he was going to do a forum and that Angelina Jolie was going to be there. “I didn't know who Angelina Jolie was,” he said, while the spectators who listened to him couldn't stop laughing at what he said.
He continued the story, saying that he then came home and asked his wife Lina Moreno who Angelina Jolie was, to which his “lady” replied: “You are not going to ask that in public, because you will look like a mountaineer.”
The former president, with his characteristic Antioquian accent, advanced the anecdote, adding:
“Well, I got there, to the Clinton Foundation, I explained how we weekly in the community councils sought to grow popular credit. Little things that were done at the time. In the country not everything is perfect, but progress has been made.”
In turn, reaching the most exciting part of the story, he detailed that Angelina Jolie had spoken about the humanitarian and social work she does as an activist on the African continent.
“There was a crowd of journalists and they said to me: 'Well, what did you think of Angelina Jolie?'” To which he responded: “Interesting, she has presented a great program, admirable.” But Uribe, who knows how to confront the press very well, assured that the journalists continued with that malice and asked him: “Very pretty?”, to which he responded:
“I said yes, but the prettiest are the Colombian ones. Then, they asked me: 'And who do you think of?' I told them: the women of Jardín, Antioquia," concluded the story between shouts and applause, who was chosen in 2013 as the Great Colombian, after a vote of 30.3% in a contest run by the History Channel.
Álvaro Uribe reacted after the statement of an important general (r), who in the JEP accepted responsibility for false positives
On September 20, 2023, former President Uribe spoke through his social networks and referred to the statements of the General (r) of the Army, Henry Torres Escalante, who during the recognition hearing of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP). ) carried out in Yopal, accepted its maximum level of responsibility for the extrajudicial crimes committed between 2005 and 2006.
"I was consistently assertive," he stated, reflecting on the period when Casanare faced the presence of armed groups like the FARC, ELN, and paramilitaries, and community council meetings were televised. "Being assertive was my responsibility," he emphasized.
The Antioquia politician reiterated his stance that the structure of the JEP (Special Jurisdiction for Peace) incentivizes the acknowledgment of even uncommitted crimes, all in the name of securing freedom.
"This framework also simplifies the portrayal of individuals engaged in criminal activities as innocent, even when their own families remained unaware. There are glaring instances of members from criminal organizations who are portrayed as innocent victims," he concluded.
