At age 80, Jessica Walter died peacefully in her sleep at her residence in New York, USA. She acted in television series such as “Arrested Development” and “Archer.”
Jessica Walter, actress of the series “Arrested Development” and “Archer”, died at the age of 80 Wednesday, March 24. According to the specialized press, the Golden Globe winner died peacefully while she was sleeping at her residence located in New York, United States.
Known mostly for her role as Lucille Bluth in the television fiction “Arrested Development,” her successful career spans six decades in Hollywood. Brooke Bowman, daughter of Jessica Walter, shared a statement about her death and asked that she be remembered for her work in film and television:
“It is with great sadness that I confirm the death of my dear mother Jessica. An actress who was active for over six decades, her greatest joy was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her work, many will also remember her for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”
Jessica Walter was the winner of the Golden Globe for playing Pat Stoddard in “Grand Prix” and shortly after, she was again recognized among the nominations for these awards for her performance in the film “Goosebumps in the Night”, with which Clint Eastwood debuted as a film director.
The veteran star won an Emmy for starring in “Amy Prentiss”, a spin-off of the classic fiction “Iron Side” focused on a young detective in the mid-70s. She also obtained nominations at this same gala for television series such as “Trapper John M.D.” and “Streets of San Francisco.”
However, Jessica Walter's role for the small screen that resonated most with viewers was in “Arrested Development,” currently on Netflix, and for which she also got a nomination for the Emmys and two others at the SAG Awards. The actress also provided the voice of Malory Archer in the adult animated series “Archer.”
