A source close to the couple had previously mentioned to the same publication that the couple had been living separate lives for quite some time.
Now that Sofía Vergara is single again, rumors are swirling that Tom Cruise is interested in rekindling their past connection. The New York Post reports that the two shared a brief history in early 2005, marked by a few dates, just before Tom Cruise's relationship with Katie Holmes took off.

According to Andrew Morton, the author of an unauthorized biography on Tom Cruise, "Sofía Vergara was captivated by Tom's smile and found herself amused by the flood of phone calls, flowers, and chocolates that followed their initial meeting."
Morton suggests that the Colombian actress had reservations about Cruise's affiliation with Scientology, the religion practiced by the Top Gun star, which made a lasting relationship seem unlikely.
A source close to the British magazine Heat sheds some light on their past connection, saying, "They already had a history, although it was more of a fling than a serious romance. They had a great time together, but Sofía didn't show signs of wanting something long-term. They parted amicably and remained friends."
