Keanu Reeves known for his roles as John Wick and Constantine did not always enjoy the fame and success that he has today. Choosing a role destined him to be in the shadows.
The best kept secret was finally revealed. Keanu Reeves has become one of the most popular Hollywood actors in recent months. The interpreter not only hit movie theaters with a new film from the John Wick trilogy, but also joined the official cast of Toy Story 4.
But not everything has been good for Reeves, in a recent interview with GQ, the actor revealed that Fox banned him for 14 years for refusing to make Speed 2.
The performer told how the company put him in “movie jail” for preferring to participate in a play rather than the sequel to the successful film, Speed, from 1994 alongside Sandra Bullock.
Why did Reeves say no to Speed 2? Well, the answer involves the scripts for 'The Devil's Advocate' and a Shakespeare play in the theater. Everything indicates that the actor did not want to make action films in a row, so he opted for another type of feature film, a decision that was not to the company's liking.
Fox was obviously unhappy when its star left the project, and according to Reeves, the film studio began spreading "propaganda" against him, saying that he was touring with his rock band, Dogstar, instead of making movies.
The actor mentioned that before choosing Jason Patric as the protagonist of Speed 2, Fox offered him a salary of $11 million to reprise the role of Jack Traven, but despite said offer, he did not accept.
Despite everything, Keanu Reeves served his sentence in the 'movie prison' and came out the winner, now he is one of the highest paid actors and most accepted by viewers.
