In an interview with Esquire for a profile titled “Owen Wilson Is Very Well, Thank You,” the 52-year-old actor delved into his reflections on life, death, and the harrowing experience.

In the candid discussion, Wilson likened life to a relentless adversary, comparing it to a nightmarish struggle portrayed by Tom Hardy in "The Revenant." He described it as a force that attempts to assail you relentlessly, even when you seem to gain an advantage.

The "French Dispatch" star expressed, “He'll still be there at the end whispering, 'This isn't going to bring back your son,' or your father, or the good times of your past. And when that guy puts his life on the line, you have to suck it up and wait it out."

Following the suicide attempt, Andrew played a pivotal role in Owen's recovery. According to Esquire, Andrew stayed with him, providing support and structure by creating daily schedules. This helped Owen gradually regain a sense of manageability in his life, eventually leading to a positive transformation over time.

Opening up about his struggles with depression, Wilson disclosed that the concept of death had impacted him since the age of eleven. He recounted a childhood conversation with his father, a television executive, about the existential fear of dying. Wilson vividly recalled the moment, stating, “I remember exactly where in the house, when I said, ‘I'm worried about dying,’ and I saw my father walk away and recover. And I was surprised to see that reaction. But who knows, maybe that was part of the reason I said it.”

In August 2007, Owen Wilson's battle with mental health reached a critical point, leading to a suicide attempt that resulted in hospitalization. Luke Wilson, Owen's brother and star of "Legally Blonde," discovered him and promptly called 911, initiating the intervention that would ultimately contribute to Owen's healing process.
