Prince Harry's obsession that baffles Meghan Markle

Despite the disputes and the distance that separates them today, William and Harry remain as much children of Prince Charles as they did from day zero and have inherited from him not only their genetics and royal titles, but also some of their customs and obsessions, among them, turning off all unnecessary lights as a way of caring for the environment.

This was told in a BBC documentary to celebrate the 70th birthday of the successor to the throne. The program, called Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, featured several members of the United Kingdom's most famous family, including his two children.

The princes shared a series of details about the behind-the-scenes of their lives. William, for example, revealed that he would like his father to spend more time with his grandchildren, and Harry admitted that he still refers to the late Princess Diana as “mummy.”

The Duke of Sussex, 36, also spoke about a strange habit that he shares with both his father and his older brother. According to Harry, all three of them are obsessed with lighting and his wife, Meghan Markle, can't understand it.

“[Carlos] is a fan of turning off the lights. And now it's something I'm obsessed with too, which is crazy. My wife says 'well, why turn off more lights? If it's already dark'. I say 'we only need one light, we don't need like six'. Suddenly, it becomes a habit and everyone can make those small changes. “I think that’s one of the key lessons he taught us.” William completely agreed with his brother, adding, “I know I have light switch OCD now.”

Turning off the lights is not the only lesson that Carlos has passed on to his children to take care of the planet. The brothers also revealed that he always encouraged them to pick up trash when they were away from home. “It's not that I consciously go looking for trash. When you go walking anywhere, if you see something that stands out, you pick it up,” Harry explained. “It's like I was literally programmed to do it even though it was my father who did it. Actually, I think we should all be doing it.”
