Her demise occurred in a Los Angeles hospital, surrounded by family and friends, shortly before 9:30 a.m. local time (4:30 p.m. GMT), concluding a challenging three-year battle against cancer.

Ryan O'Neal, Fawcett's partner, shared the news with People magazine, expressing profound grief. He stated, "She is gone. She is now with her mother and her sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I am going to miss her very, very much. She was conscious and unconscious. I talked to her all night. I told her how much I loved her. She's in a better place now."

Tragically, the couple's only son, Redmond, 23, faced imprisonment in Los Angeles due to drug-related issues and reportedly did not obtain permission to be with his mother during her final moments.

Barbara Walters, a journalist from ABC television, had forewarned of Fawcett's critical condition on her Thursday morning show, citing information from sources close to the actress. "I'm not sure if she's going to make it through this day. She received the last rites," revealed Walters.

Earlier in the week, Ryan O'Neal, Fawcett's romantic partner since the late 1970s, had shared with Walters that he proposed to Fawcett on her deathbed, an announcement contradicted by People magazine's online edition on Tuesday when it reported her return to the hospital.

Farrah Fawcett, aged 62, valiantly battled anal cancer for three years. O'Neal, 68, and Fawcett, though never married, share a son and maintained a long and complex relationship since 1982.

In an interview with Walters, O'Neal, when queried about Fawcett's health, asserted, "She is fighting for her life." The actor, renowned for "Love Story" (1970), had been a steadfast companion to Fawcett throughout her illness.

The poignant revelation last month that Fawcett's cancer had spread and her completion of treatment marked a somber turn in their enduring love story. O'Neal confessed, "It's a love story. But I don't know how to act in it. I don't want to know about this world without it."
