The character of Jacob in Twilight has left an indelible mark on the memories of many teenagers who, 14 years after the premiere of the film saga, continue to play them on loop.
However, that character has not only marked the lives of Generation Z, but also of the actor who gave him life, Taylor Lautner, who almost didn't get the role.
When the American actor first stepped into Jacob's shoes in Twilight, he was barely 15 years old. But before having a defined face, the role was about to be awarded to another actor, just as young as Lautner. This is none other than Tyler Posey, now famous for his role as Scott McCall in the series Teen Wolf.
It was during his appearance on Kelly Clarkson's show that Tyler revealed this previously unknown information: “I faced Taylor Lautner,” the actor began.
“The thing was between him and me to be Jacob in Twilight. It would have been amazing [to have gotten the role], but he was really young. He was 16 years old. He was not prepared for the type of attention he received. It was a lot for him at that age and I admire him for that. So I waited a couple more years and I'm glad I didn't get it.”
Tyler Posey and his fate as a werewolf
The fears that the Teen Wolf interpreter confessed to having experienced at that moment were not so far from reality, since Taylor Lautner himself has expressed on several occasions how much it affected him to star in a project of such importance when he was barely 15 years old.
However, not having gotten that position is not something that Posey has to regret, since destiny had prepared for him a role just as valuable as Jacob's and, curiously, with the same characteristics: the protagonist of the successful series Teen Wolf, where Tyler puts himself in the shoes of the werewolf protagonist of the story.
