The friendship between Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa fell apart a year ago, but last summer they resolved their conflict. Now, the actress has given more details about the time they were separated and whether she would donate a kidney to the singer again.
The much-discussed controversy between Francia Raisa and Selena Gomez began after the singer claimed that her "only friend in the industry" was Taylor Switf, which caused the actress' hurt reaction and her unfollowing her on social media.
The fan communities of both stars clashed, with hurtful comments towards Raisa, to a large extent. And those words resonated a lot because years ago the interpreter donated one of her kidneys to Gomez, her great friend at the time.
The singer defended herself from the criticism by asking for forgiveness from all those people she did not mention, but the war was already over. After a year marked by tensions between the two, they finally settled the dispute and sealed the reconciliation by going out to dinner together.
Now, once their media conflict is resolved, Raisa has spoken in an interview for USA Today, in which she has given more details about what her anger meant to them.
"Nothing happened, and if you ask any of us, we don't know what happened," said the 35-year-old performer. "But we needed that time apart," she assured that there was no specific reason, despite the fact that her father pointed to alcohol problems as a trigger for the conflict.
"She and I are still getting to know each other again," she said, noting that the distancing was good for her relationship. Raisa continued in disbelief at how their friendship sparked so much public interest, calling it "madness."
However, one of the biggest revelations she has given has been about which of the two took the first step to solve their problem: "I don't know why the universe decided that moment... Then she extended her hand and said: 'Let's talk'".
"And obviously, you know, I gave the girl a kidney and for years and years and years they asked me, 'Do you regret it?' and I say, 'No, the relationship has always been there,'" Raisa said. "There was only one fight," she said, although she also indicated that they had not spoken much for the last six years.
