Keanu Reeves recently shared insights on why he turned down the opportunity to appear in the sequel to the 1994 hit film "Speed," in which he starred alongside Sandra Bullock.
The original movie revolved around a bus rigged to explode if its speed drops below 50 miles per hour. Speaking on "The Graham Norton Show," Reeves expressed his reservations about the script for "Speed 2: Cruise Control," which featured an ocean liner.
While he admired working with Bullock and cherished the character Jack Traven, he felt uncertain about the direction the sequel was taking.
During the show, fellow guest Jack Whitehall questioned Reeves about his decision to decline the sequel. Reeves emphasized that his hesitation was not a reflection of any issues with the cast or crew but rather a personal feeling that it wasn't the right project for him at the time.
Despite turning down "Speed 2," Keanu Reeves has embraced the opportunity to reprise his iconic role as Neo in "The Matrix Resurrections." Addressing the upcoming film, Reeves expressed excitement and described the experience as extraordinary.
Responding to Norton's question about Neo's return, Reeves revealed that when initially approached about another "Matrix" movie, he was surprised, considering Neo's fate in the previous installment. However, after hearing the director's vision and the intriguing storyline, Reeves was enthusiastic about portraying the beloved character once again.
He teased that the film would address the mystery of Neo's resurrection, providing an explanation for his character's unexpected return after 18 years.
