Sofía Vergara recently delved into the details of her divorce with actor Joe Manganiello, revealing that one of the primary reasons for their separation was a fundamental difference in their desires for expanding their family.

Sofía Vergara Opens Up About Divorce and Motherhood Preferences

The 51-year-old actress candidly shared her perspective in an extensive interview with the newspaper, shedding light on the complexities that led to the end of her seven-year marriage with Manganiello in July 2023. Vergara expressed that the age gap between her and Manganiello played a crucial role in their split.

The actor, being younger, harbored a desire to have children, while Vergara, already a mother to her 32-year-old son Manolo from a previous marriage, was not keen on the idea of becoming a mother again. She emphasized her belief that being an older mother might not be fair to the child and explained that while she respects those who choose it, it's a path she no longer envisions for herself.

In the interview, Vergara highlighted her readiness to embrace the role of a grandmother rather than a mother. Having experienced motherhood at a young age, she expressed her preference for enjoying the joys of grandparenthood when her son Manolo decides to start a family. She humorously shared her expectation that Manolo would bring the baby to her for a while, allowing her to revel in the joys of being a grandmother before returning to her own life.

The actress, known for her role in Modern Family, clarified that if love were to enter her life again, it would have to come with its own children. She underlined her commitment to her current phase in life, embracing the prospect of becoming a grandmother and focusing on her career.

Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello announced their divorce through a joint statement to Page Six in July 2023, describing it as a "difficult decision." The couple, who married in 2015, requested privacy as they navigated this new phase of their lives.

Looking ahead, Vergara is set to star in the upcoming Netflix miniseries 'Griselda,' premiering on January 23. The series explores the life of Griselda Blanco, a pioneering figure in the world of drug trafficking, providing a glimpse into her complex character and the challenges she faced in the Miami of the 1970s and 80s.
