Elton John recently marked yet another orbit around the sun, born on March 25th, 1947.
Celebrating his 77th birthday this Monday, he was showered with affection from his partner of three decades, David Furnish. Taking to Instagram, Furnish shared a heartwarming tribute to John, accompanied by a playful photo of the music icon donning his trademark quirky sunglasses while humorously clutching a miniature figurine of himself in his mouth.
"Happy birthday to my irrepressible husband, @Elton John," Furnish hilariously began the caption. He continued, "You're the best father, hardest working artist and musician, bountiful humanitarian, loving partner, and most loyal friend. Wishing you the healthiest and happiest 77th birthday!" John reciprocated the sentiment by reposting Furnish's affectionate message on his own Instagram stories, adding, "Love you @David Furnish, always getting my best angles."
Joining in the celebration, a slew of celebrities, including the Spice Girls, Donatella Versace, Charlotte Tilbury, and Paris Hilton, among others, extended their well wishes to the music icon. John graciously shared all of these messages on his stories as well. Hollywood sources reported that Elton John threw a star-studded birthday party at his home the day before his birthday, with reports indicating that Meghan and Harry were notably absent.
Sources cited a recent falling out between the pals, marking a shift from their previously close relationship. Elton and Harry had initially bonded due to the musician's friendship with the late Princess Diana. Elton famously performed an emotional rendition of "Candle in the Wind" at Diana's funeral in 1997 and later entertained guests at Harry and Meghan's royal wedding reception in 2018.
However, tensions seemingly arose between Harry and Elton following the fallout from Meghan and Harry's decision to step back from their royal duties in 2020 and relocate to the US. When Elton faced health concerns, reportedly receiving little support from the couple during his recovery, their relationship soured further.
Concerns about Elton's health arose when he was spotted using a walking stick and medical boot during the funeral of Derek Draper in February. David Furnish revealed that Elton is scheduled to undergo knee surgery soon but is otherwise in good spirits leading up to the operation. Furnish shared in an interview with The Sun, "Elton's doing amazing. He's having another knee done in a couple of weeks, and by the time summer rolls around, he'll have two brand new, spanking knees."
Despite Elton's longstanding support for the couple, there has been no contact from Meghan and Harry since his health struggles, leading to speculation about their relationship. The Rocket Man singer previously underwent hip surgery in 2021 after suffering an injury in August 2023. Following a fall at his friend's home, Elton was hospitalized, but he was quickly discharged and is now back at home and in good health.
