Hollywood luminaries are notably gravitating away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, opting instead to throw their weight behind Prince William.
During a recent royal engagement in Rexham, Wales, Prince William was captured on camera alongside actor Rob McElhenney. The Prince of Wales, living up to his regal title, joined forces with the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star to commemorate St. David's Day, a significant Welsh holiday.
This marked the first public outing for the pair. Rob, who co-owns the Welsh football club Rexham AFC with Ryan Reynolds, shared the spotlight with William. The duo was seen enjoying shots and engaging with locals at the Turf Pub, accompanied by owner Wayne Jones. A jubilant post on the Prince and Princess of Wales's Instagram account expressed their delight at spending the day with Rob, Wayne, and the people of Rexham.
Following their pub visit, William and Rob proceeded to Rexham AFC's home stadium, the Racecourse Ground. There, they were greeted by players Ben Toer and Luke Young, who presented the Prince with a personalized jersey. The actor also took the time to interact with Rexham locals, immersing himself in Welsh history and receiving tokens for his family.
William concluded his visit with a poignant tour of the Gresford Colliery Disaster Memorial, paying tribute to the 266 men lost in one of the UK's most devastating coal mining tragedies. Among those he met was Ruby McBurn, 92, one of the last surviving children of a victim. Reflecting on their encounter, Ruby remarked, "He was lovely. It was so nice to meet him. It was certainly worth getting cold for."
In a separate event, Rob McElhenney shared a selfie featuring himself, Glenn Howerton, and Prince Harry. The photo, taken during a football match in September, showcased Harry's infectious smile as he stood alongside his celebrity friends. Despite Harry's presence among Hollywood's elite, it appears that the tide is turning in favor of Prince William and his father, King Charles. A recent social media post by Rob hinted at a shift in support towards the royal brothers. The post also featured King Charles and Queen Camilla, who made a cameo appearance on Rob and Ryan's TV documentary series, "Welcome to Rexham."
According to royal expert Josh Rom, the Sussexes' efforts to maintain their Hollywood relevance have not been as successful as anticipated. Despite their partnerships with Netflix and Spotify, it is Prince William who seems to be garnering more celebrity backing. Rom observes a notable irony in the situation, given the recent launch of Harry and Meghan's new website amidst a rebranding effort. While the Sussexes continue to navigate their Hollywood journey, it appears that the allure of royalty still holds sway over the entertainment industry.
