James Middleton, brother of the Princess of Wales, sent a message of support to Kate, who revealed that she suffers from cancer. "We have climbed many mountains together," he said.
Kate Middleton has shocked the world by announcing that she has cancer. Through a video broadcast this Friday on the Royal Family's social networks, the Princess of Wales revealed that she has received special treatment in recent months after she underwent surgery for an abdominal condition on January 16.
“In January I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time my condition was thought to be non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found that there was cancer. Therefore, my medical team recommended that I undergo preventive chemotherapy treatment and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” said Prince William's wife.
For her part, James Middleton, Kate's younger brother, decided to send a message of support to her family member by publishing an emotional photograph from her childhood. In the snapshot, Kate Middleton is seen in her adolescence with a collared polo shirt and a smile on her face carrying a backpack. Beside her, a much smaller James appears with a red polo collar.
“Over the years we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we are going to escalate this (disease) with you too,” the 37-year-old businessman wrote, showing that he always remembers his older sister. The photo, so far, has more than 77 thousand reactions and more than 3,700 comments.
King Charles III noted that he is "very proud" of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, for "his bravery in speaking out as she did," shortly after she revealed a cancer diagnosis in a video statement.
Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment, said he remains in "close contact with her beloved daughter-in-law," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said.
It should be noted that King Charles III is also now facing cancer, just a year and a half after assuming the British crown.
On January 26, the monarch underwent surgery for a benign prostate enlargement after openly acknowledging his condition, in order to raise awareness among citizens about undergoing controls.
Kate Middleton explained that she was receiving support from her husband, Prince William, during the months of her treatment. Likewise, she explained that it “took her time” to tell her children George, Charlotte and Louis about her illness “in the appropriate way.”
"I'm doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal my mind, body and spirit. Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and peace of mind. Like love, support and the kindness that many of you have shown. It means a lot to both of us," he added.
Likewise, Kate Middleton urged all of her followers to understand that she and her family “need some time, space and privacy while she completes her treatment.” “My job has always given me a deep sense of joy and I hope to return when I can, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery,” she said.
