Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst starred in one of the most iconic kisses in modern cinema in SpiderMan. However, the ins and outs of it were not at all glamorous as the actress has said.
Sam Raimi's SpiderMan trilogy in the early 2000s broke the trend of superhero cinema to date and gave Marvel films a new status of quality and respect for the characters, setting a precedent in the industry by which would be joined by the Hulk, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four and, years later, the UCM as we know it.
The first Peter Parker went to Tobey Maguire and alongside him was Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Watson after making a name for herself in Hollywood as a child star.
Along with a supporting cast such as Willem Dafoe or J.K. Simmons, both starred in countless scenes remembered by fans and iconic moments such as their kiss in the rain.
22 years have passed since its release in theaters and, now, the actress will take a new step in her career with Civil War, after having only participated in two films since 2017. Thus, during the promotion of this one in an interview with The Jonathan Ross Show, Dunst has recalled the details of filming that kiss and how it was not as romantic as many might imagine.
"I remember Sam Raimi gave me a book of famous kisses to inspire me, but I also wanted to make it special even though it was kind of miserable to do," she said. "It was pouring rain, we were freezing, Tobey couldn't breathe, so it was almost like he was resuscitating him," she added.
However, the result was unbeatable and their on-screen chemistry led to two more installments, although there are rumors about the possibility of making a fourth installment.
Kirsten Dusnt will release Alex Garland's Civil War on April 19, in which she plays a war reporter in a near future where the United States is mired in a bloody civil war.
