Sylvester Stallone talks about the painful incident that caused him to change the script for 'Rocky II'

Sylvester Stallone told a revealing episode about the successful Rocky saga. In the television special TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, the actor, famous for his legendary roles in action movies, said that a serious injury forced him to make a key change in the script for the second part of the story from Balboa.

The incident occurred during his training with bodybuilder Franco Columbu. The star suffered a pectoral tear in the middle of a strength exercise. Despite intense pain and concern that the project could be compromised, the actor decided to continue filming.

"I knew it was bad. I could hear it breaking and I was clenching my fingers in pain. I said, 'I think I'm going to faint.' Then I thought, 'I'm going home. I feel like my career is over, because I'm supposed to I have to start Rocky II, direct it and star in it all in a month and a half,' I said at first."

Faced with the need to adapt to his injury, Sylvester Stallone modified the plot of Rocky II: although the character of Rocky Balboa is predominantly left-handed, in this installment, he learns to fight with his right hand. This adjustment was necessary in order to continue filming.

"I can't use this arm, so I change it for the other. Although it may seem illogical to some, that's the interesting thing that happens on these incredible journeys. We don't stop, we don't give up," he said.

Sylvester Stallone talks about the failure of Rocky V

Rocky has been critically acclaimed over the years, however, there was one installment that failed to impress. Sylvester Stallone, who played the legendary boxer in the franchise, openly acknowledged the criticism directed at Rocky V, released in 1990.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 77-year-old actor expressed his regret for including her in the saga. The popular 'Sly' highlighted that this installment did not fit the tone and quality of the previous films, which generated discontent among viewers.

"It didn't even belong in the saga," he commented. "What made me feel bad were the fans. They all say, 'I hate the fifth!'" he added.

Sylvester Stallone is not the only one to detest Rocky V, since the film has a disappointing rating of 31% on the Rotten Tomatoes portal, being the installment with the lowest score of the entire saga.

"Rocky V was bad. It was a failure. It definitely wasn't up to par," Stallone said in another interview on Friday Night. According to him, on a scale of one to ten, Rocky V deserves a resounding zero, calling it "bad" and "out of place."
