Lemonada CEO ABANDONS Meghan Markle After Disaster Podcast Suffers US Backlash

Meghan Markle's podcast series has been praised as "comedy gold" by Perez Hilton, the well-known celebrity gossip commentator in the United States.

Lemonada CEO ABANDONS Meghan Markle After Disaster Podcast Suffers US Backlash

Meghan has mingled with Hollywood's elite, featuring guests such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Constance Wu, the star of Crazy Rich Asians. However, all good things come to an end, and Meghan's podcast with Spotify concluded after just one season.

Despite this, Meghan and her reliable partner, Leonard, have teamed up again for another season of what Hilton describes as pure auditory magic. In an interview on the YouTube series "Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered," Hilton expressed confidence that Meghan and Prince Harry will continue to receive financial backing from Hollywood due to their royal connections. Hilton explained that Hollywood, like much of the world, is fascinated by the British royal family. Even though Harry is no longer a senior working royal, he remains the son of the King and the brother of the future King, ensuring ongoing financial support for both him and Meghan, regardless of their professional setbacks with Spotify or Netflix.

Hilton also shared his thoughts on Meghan's podcasting skills, noting that while "Archetypes" was intended to champion women's voices, it primarily featured rich and famous guests. The podcast, which debuted on Spotify in August 2022 as part of a multi-year deal with the Sussexes' production company, included notable guests such as "S-- and the City" author Candace Bushnell, actor Jameela Jamil, and Canada's former First Lady, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. Despite topping Spotify's podcast charts in 47 countries, Meghan, Harry, and Spotify mutually decided to end their partnership in June the following year after producing only 12 episodes.

In February, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Meghan planned to bring back "Archetypes" and that she was excited to join the team at Lemonada Media to continue her passion for podcasting. Meghan expressed her enthusiasm about supporting a company founded by women that already produced several thought-provoking podcasts. She revealed plans to re-release "Archetypes" to reach a broader audience and launch a new dynamic podcast soon, expressing her joy at joining the Lemonada family.

However, in April, it was reported that the release date for the new podcast had been pushed to 2025 to allow Meghan to focus on a Netflix series about cooking, gardening, and friendship. An unnamed source told the Daily Mail that the delay was necessary for Meghan to prioritize her Netflix project.

While Meghan's podcast "Archetypes" has been criticized for some inaccuracies, similar to claims made in her Oprah interview and the documentary series, the primary reason significant funds were directed toward Harry and Meghan was Hollywood's interest in insider information about the royal family. As their ability to deliver such insights diminishes, their revenue stream may be short-lived. Without their royal connections, the Sussexes' allure significantly decreases.
