Meghan twice revealed on social media that she had been spending time with Michael Del Zotto, a professional ice hockey player. She expressed her admiration for him publicly. The first meeting took place in Toronto, where Michael was playing for the New York Rangers against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Later, Meghan flew to New York to attend another game at Madison Square Garden. Meghan posted a photograph on Instagram showing her smiling in sunglasses and a black coat with an arm around Michael, calling him the best. According to Morton, sources close to the couple disclosed that Meghan ended the marriage abruptly and unexpectedly. In his book, Morton mentioned a wealthy entrepreneur friend who claimed Meghan sent Trevor her diamond engagement ring and wedding band back via registered mail, marking a sudden end to their union.
