The Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton and Prince William, have extended their support to a food bank in Peckham, South London, after it was raided by thieves.

In a private act of generosity, the royal couple made a donation to help the charity recover after the theft, which resulted in thousands of pounds worth of food and essential donations being stolen last weekend. The South London-based charity, which operates the food bank, was left devastated after the incident. The thieves struck in the early hours of Sunday, September 8th, targeting the food bank located on Peckham High Street.

The theft has had a profound impact on the community, leaving hundreds of families who rely on the food bank in a vulnerable position. Christian charity Pecan, which runs the service, expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received from various sectors of society. The charity was especially grateful to Prince William and Princess Catherine for their contribution. Peter Edwards, Chief Executive of Pecan, spoke about the devastating blow dealt by the theft but also noted how heartened he was by the outpouring of generosity following the incident.

Approximately £3,000 worth of food, hygiene products, and a laptop were taken during the break-in. Despite this setback, Pecan has reported that food supplies are now being replenished, thanks to the donations from individuals, organizations, and the royal couple. On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the charity publicly thanked the Prince and Princess of Wales for their role in the recovery effort, writing: "A huge thank you to @KensingtonRoyal for their generous donation after the theft of £3,000 worth of food supplies."

This is not the first time Prince William and Princess Catherine have stepped in to support those in need. In July, the couple made a private donation to aid the victims of Hurricane Beryl, which caused significant destruction in the Caribbean. They had visited the region in 2022 as part of their royal tour commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, and their gesture of support followed the storm’s devastation.

This latest act of kindness comes as the royal couple navigates their own personal challenges. Recently, Kate Middleton has been focusing on her health, having completed chemotherapy as part of her treatment to remain cancer-free. Despite the difficulties they face, the Prince and Princess of Wales continue to demonstrate their commitment to helping others, especially in times of crisis. Their donation to the Peckham food bank serves as a reminder of their dedication to charitable causes and their deep connection to the communities they aim to support.
