Prince Harry has faced criticism and been urged to act with dignity when addressing matters concerning Queen Camilla.
The Duke of Sussex, who shared extensive thoughts about his stepmother in his memoir Spare, has been encouraged to adopt a more graceful approach in the future. Petronella Wyatt, a close friend of Queen Camilla, reflected on the shifting dynamics within the Royal Family.
Speaking on the subject of Harry and Camilla, she remarked, “I’m not sure Harry realized how incendiary Spare was. The entire country seemed divided. Harry and Camilla’s roles within the Royal Family have essentially reversed. Camilla, once regarded as the ‘hated outcast,’ is now viewed with affection, while Harry has taken on the role of the outsider. It’s time for him to move past portraying Camilla as the wicked stepmother.”
In Spare, Harry shared his apprehensions about meeting Camilla, writing, “I recall wondering, right before the tea, if she’d be mean to me. If she’d be like all the wicked stepmothers in storybooks. But she wasn’t.”
Prince Harry stepped away from his royal duties in 2020, moving to California with his wife Meghan Markle and their son, Prince Archie. The couple later publicly accused the Royal Family of racial bias against Archie and aired grievances in various interviews. Since their relocation, they have also welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
