Richard Gere says goodbye to the United States: the actor has sold his house in Connecticut for $10.75 million, months after announcing his plans to move to Spain.

Gere, 75, acquired the property in 2022 for $10.8 million, a price slightly higher than the recent sale. During their stay, Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, planned to turn the property into a farm. The residence, built in 1938, has six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a pool, gardens and a guest cottage.

Since they married in 2018, Gere and Silva have lived in the United States, although in an interview this year, in April, the actor said that he wanted to spend more time in his wife's native Spain, with whom he is 33 years older. In this way, he says, he wants to allow her to be closer to her relatives.

"For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture," he said of Silva, 41, in an interview with Vanity Fair Spain. "She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers."

Specifically, the Pretty Woman star will move to Madrid with his family, made up of his wife Alejandra and their two sons, Alexander, 5, and James, 4. Both have children from previous marriages: Gere is also the father of a son, Homer, 24, with his second wife, Carey Lowell; Silva, on the other hand, shares a son, Albert, 11, with her ex-husband Govind Friedland. It is not clear where the child will live.

In any case, Gere is excited to change continents. “I love Spain and the ability of the Spanish to live transmitting joy and happiness.”

Previously, Richard Gere's house in Connecticut had been purchased by musicians Paul Simon and Edie Brickell in 2005 for 16.5 million, which meant a considerable loss when selling it.
