Before becoming Wonder Woman, actress Gal Gadot wasn't even sure she wanted to be in the entertainment industry. In fact, she avoided him for a long time. "It wasn't like she was growing up, dreaming of becoming an actress," she said. Today. However, the casting directors continued to knock on her door and she was quickly bitten by the acting worm.
Though actors often have to get into character, Gadot has pretty much lived through what she's portrayed on screen. She has served in the military, works hard to be a positive role model, and can even answer questions from the press like a pro due to her beauty pageant experience. Gadot really has done it all, and she's not done yet. However, that does not mean that her life has always been perfect. Like anyone else launching into show business, there have been a few bumps in the road (and no, we're not talking about the ill-received, celebrity-studded version of her from John Lennon's "Imagine"). .
However, much like Wonder Woman herself, Gadot has always triumphed. This is Gal Gadot's transformation.
The Gal Gadot we all now know as Wonder Woman grew up quite a ways from Themyscira. The actress who plays the fan-favorite superhero was born and raised in Israel. Like Wonder Woman, though, even from the get-go, Gadot wanted to keep up with the boys. "I was a tomboy," she admitted. Rolling Stone. "Always with wounds and scratches on the knees."
Interestingly, this superhero-in-training had heard of Wonder Woman, but her parents never allowed her to watch television. However, she still seemed enthralled with the performance. Gadot tried dancing and continued to teach her for 12 years (via Marie Claire). Even when she was home, she loved to entertain her family and friends. Once, when no one was paying attention to her, she Gadot sprayed them all with a hose. "I loved the attention," she revealed to Glamour. "But I never connected all the dots that maybe I should be an actress."
On the other hand, there were plenty of times that Gadot ignored the opportunities she was given to shine in the spotlight. Throughout her teenage years, she was offered multiple modeling jobs. However, she chose to look for a job at Burger King. Standing around looking pretty didn't seem like her ideal occupation. Little did she know, doing so would soon change her life.
Gal Gadot was named Miss Israel
When Gal Gadot graduated from high school, the future actor decided to enlist in the army. His mother, however, had a very different idea. She thought it would be cool to enter Gadot in a beauty pageant. Nor was it any other beauty pageant. It was the Miss Israel 2004 competition, of all things. "I never thought she was going to win," the Wonder Woman star told W Magazine. "And then I won, and I freaked out."
The then 18-year-old went on to compete in Miss Universe that same year, and in fear of being crowned a second time, she decided to do whatever she could to lose. "I was scared that they would pick me again," Gadot explained to Glamour. "I've arrived late. I came without a robe. They tell you to come to breakfast in a robe. I was like, 'I'm not walking, am I having breakfast in a robe? '". She even pretended that she didn't speak much English so she wouldn't have to answer any questions from the judges. Needless to say, Gadot got away with it. She didn't end up winning – but it did set her up for a steady modeling job.
Gal Gadot had prepared for a career as a model
After becoming Miss Israel, Gal Gadot fulfilled her requirement of two years in the Israel Defense Forces. Her specialty was getting the other wrestlers in shape by teaching them gymnastics and calisthenics. However, once again, she was being noticed for her appearance. In 2007, Máxima highlighted Gadot in an article titled "Women of the Israel Defense Forces." She modeled for a few photos for the outlet, and everyone quickly began to take notice of this stunning Israeli.
While she would never have taken a modeling job as a teenager, Gadot was everything now. After all, she had unexpectedly been crowned the winner of a national beauty pageant and landed a modeling job in a major magazine, so why couldn't she be great at it? "Thanks to Miss Israel, I started modeling and traveling," Gadot explained to Glamour. "It opened my mind to different possibilities."
