Certainly Jennifer Aniston's most recent film is nothing banal.
Photographed on the set of her upcoming drama, Cake, Aniston was seen wearing no makeup except for a scar on her right cheek. Her role in the film is that of a woman in a support group for people suffering from chronic pain.
Aniston's character, Claire, delves into the life of a member of her group (Anna Kendrick) who commits suicide and ends up developing a relationship with the woman's husband, played by Sam Worthington. And the cake (Cake) is not just a suggestive title, but an offer from Claire to the widower.
It seems that the scar is the only visible reminder of the accident or trauma that Claire experienced in the past that caused her so much pain. The nature of the role explains the very bland type of clothing Aniston has worn in the last week.
Aniston is an executive producer on the film, directed by Daniel Barnz and written by Patrick Tobin.
Chris Messina plays Claire's ex-husband and Felicity Huffman is the leader of the support group. William H. Macy, Marianne Jean Baptiste, Britt Robertson and Lucy Walters also appear in the film.
"Of the millions of fans of Jennifer Aniston, I must be the oldest"; Barnz said in a statement released in February when Cake was announced as part of the Cinelou Films production. "I especially loved her more dramatic performances and I can't wait to see her in this role as she has such a funny voice but so much pain at the same time."
The film was recorded in a Los Angeles cemetery last week.
