The woman who participated in this campaign, produced by the brothers Cristobal and Sebastian Zegers, sparked controversy after revealing that it was fiction.
“Another project that I worked on recording for the Rejection campaign. It has been one of the best recordings because production came to the house”. This text belongs to Noelia Narvaez, an actress who publicly acknowledged participating in a spot for the Exit Plebiscite, which will take place on September 4.
There is little more than two months left before the television campaign corresponding to this stage of the constituent process begins. However, videos are already beginning to circulate, many of them edited, to call for a vote for one of the two options on the ballot.
One of them went viral this week and shows different people expressing that they voted Approve in the October Plebiscite and now they will vote Reject because they do not agree with the text proposed by the Constitutional Convention.
Representatives from Chile Vamos and Amarillos por Chile joined this campaign. “This video reflects what many people feel who see with sorrow how this bad text was arrived at, but who do not want the possibility of a new Constitution to die. Before they approved, in September they will reject with the hope of later achieving a Constitution that unites us“, wrote the former RN presidential candidate, Mario Desbordes.
The truth behind the false testimony by the Rejection
The script of the spot says the following: “We went out to the streets to fight for freedom and equality. My whole family was glued to the TV the day the constituents went to work. They were going to sing the national anthem and they didn't because it offended the constituents. How is Chile's anthem going to offend you? How are we going to win the opportunity to write a text that unites us? Let's go for a second chance."
This Monday, Noelia Narvaez posted the video on her Instagram account and unleashed a wave of comments. A user of the social network wrote: "Doesn't it bother you to participate in a lie that is responsible for spreading more lies?"
“Mmmm yep, like you and everyone else, since you can eat with money. And nope, I don't mind, if it was one more hit, tomorrow to continue with life ", was the literal response of the actress.
During this day, the newspaper La Tercera recorded its dialogue with the creators of this spot that contains this false testimony for Rejection: the brothers Cristóbal and Sebastián Zegers, from the production company Andino, well known in the media.
“We decided to do this campaign ourselves, the brothers. With our money, we took out the few lucas that we had in our account, a production that is super super super simple“, Sebastián Zegers told the aforementioned evening newspaper.
The producer acknowledged that two of the testimonies were false, although he assured that it was based on "what people say." He also pointed out that “he threw himself on WhatsApp. Leaked unfinished. We wanted to release it later, we were seeing if we would release it or not. We are surprised by everything that has happened."
“Our campaigns put an issue on the table to talk about. There is talk, there are people who agree, there are people who do not agree“, Zegers stressed.
