Scarlett Johansson regrets being S- by Hollywood at the beginning of her career

At 38, Scarlett Johansson is one of the most famous and best-paid actresses in the entire Hollywood industry. From a very young age she began working in the world of acting, making her way between the largest studios and the most prestigious productions; but there is something that the New Yorker deeply regrets.

During a new interview, Johansson talks about her early career, revealing how she currently feels about the S- she was subjected to by the industry at the dawn of  her career.

Scarlett wanted to be an entertainment star since childhood and she got it. Her acting roles date back to childhood and by the time she came of age she already had several credits on her resume. Soon she began to accept heavier roles such as Lost in Tokyo (95%) and Girl with a Pearl Earring, but it was precisely in these years that she now feels that she began to be seen as an object by the media and all of Hollywood, something that in hindsight seems unfortunate.

I did Lost in Tokyo and Girl With the Pearl Earring, and at the time I was 18, 19 years old, coming into my own womanhood and learning my own attractiveness. She was being groomed, in a way, to be what you call a bombshell actor. I was playing the other woman and the object of desire and suddenly I found myself cornered in this place. I couldn't get out of it.

Johansson comments that many actors and actresses are subjected to this status of ephemeral star who quickly rises to be everyone's delight but falls; She comments that she had the opportunity to return and be part of other projects that displace the stigma.

It would be easy to sit across from someone in that situation and say, 'This is working.' But for that kind of actress, you know, that she burns bright and fast and then it's over and she doesn't have a chance beyond that. It was an interesting and weird puzzle to be on, but I really went back to work trying to carve out a place for myself on different projects and working on big sets.

In more recent times, Scarlett Johansson advocates for justice by joining protest movements like Me Too, charged with denouncing the mistreatment and harassment of artists in Hollywood at the hands of people with greater power. The actress has also taken roles of greater impact, complexity in mature, for example, Story of a Marriage (98%) or Jojo Rabbit (75%).

Scarlett also spoke about the demands of the industry during her meeting with Candice Magazine in 2020, commenting on the complications that actors must undergo to have the thinness required by Hollywood standards and used as an example a scene from the 1950 film, The Evil One. (100%).

There has always been pressure on actors to stay skinny. There's a scene in one of my favorite movies, Wicked, where Bette Davis walks around the room, horribly upset about something, and she picks up a piece of chocolate... puts it down... puts it back... puts it back. to leave... finally, she gives in and eats him, but only after a great fight! So even back then, there was pressure. And now, it's much worse.
