Famous Hollywood actor discovered that he is a direct descendant of Pocahontas

Edward Norton made the incredible discovery through a television program that investigates the roots of celebrities.

The actor who has starred in movies like 'The Illusionist' and 'The Incredible Hulk', recently discovered that his family roots are historical.

Norton, 53, participated in a new season of the 'Finding Your Roots' program, directed by Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., who does research on race, culture and identity of some personalities through genealogy and genetics .

In the midst of studies, the artist discovered that the 17th century Powhatan woman, Pocahontas, is his twelfth great-grandmother.

In the episode, the host revealed that Norton's ancestry, which includes a Civil War soldier who wrote to Abraham Lincoln and a pro-union labor activist of the late 19th century, traces directly to the early days of Colonial America in Virginia, when Pocahontas married English colonist John Rolfe, in 1614.

“John Rolfe and Pocahontas were married on April 5, 1614. Shakespeare dies in 1616, just to put this in perspective,” the host continued, adding context to the time period. "Pocahontas died sometime in March 1617 at Grave's End, England, and John Rolfe died about March 1622."
