Rosa Lopez, 40 kilos less since 'Rose of Spain
Among the famous Spanish, one of the most spectacular physical transformations is the one that Rosa Lopez has experienced over the years. The prodigious voice from Granada who became famous 20 years ago as the 'Rose of Spain, winner of Triumph operation 1, has lost 40 kilos (from 110 to 70) in recent years.
She has achieved it with slimming pills, but fundamentally, with a change in lifestyle and a lot of exercises.
She is now vegan (she was the image of the artichoke diet), and she does running ad boxing. “Sometimes I eat eggs or cheese, but 80% of my diet is vegan. The plant world is great for me, it makes me feel free and connected to everything and everyone." In addition, she complements her diet with LPG treatment, which eliminates localized fat.
Santiago Segura: 46 kilos more in each 'Torrente'
After winning the Goya for the short film Disturbed and starring in Álex de la Iglesia's The Day of the Beast, Santiago Segura achieved fame with the plump character of Torrente in the blockbuster saga in which he stars and directs. Every time one of the installments ended, the actor lost weight again and became a totally different person, with 46 kilos less. "He was obsessed because Loras come out everywhere," he told Europa Press in an interview. The filmmaker often recalls his early physique on Instagram:
Santiago Segura assures that he is better than ever and acknowledges that he does not want to make a sixth Torrente film. In fact, in the last one, Torrente 5, he only gained 15 kilos "because I was too lazy to lose them later."
What is his method to lose weight? “Suffering is a very hard world of suffering, it is about eating fewer calories than you consume, taking care of what types of calories they are, exercising, a series of things that you say, my goodness! It's a matter of health, I had chondropathies, chondromalacia, and destroyed cartilage... the whole body suffers and people don't know to what extent obesity is a disease".
"If you are slightly overweight, there are people who are concerned about aesthetics, but you should be concerned about other things, the cause of heart attack, diabetes, and 13 different types of cancer are related to obesity, it is disturbing to give that information and people does not know."
He hates the sport “to death”, but he forces himself to do it. "Before I played tennis, I messed up my meniscus and I can't anymore, but hey, at home I exercise, do push-ups, a little to speed up the metabolism." He has also done "mesotherapy, all kinds of refreshing creams, at the end in a swimsuit I still have a deficient body, but hey", he jokes.
Oprah Winfrey: 20 kilos in two years
The queen of talk shows and famous American businesswoman has spent years in her particular crusade against the scale. One of her most significant changes was experienced in 2017 when she lost 20 kilos in two years thanks to the Weight Watchers system, which promotes healthy behaviors.
"After spending years on a thousand diets, I have finally replaced dieting with a lifestyle change," she acknowledged. Her method consists, among other things, in being able to enjoy your favorite dishes while incorporating other more recommended foods.
For her, the psychological part plays a very important role. That is why she also recommends, along with Deepak Chopra, a 21-day meditation plan.
Kathy Bates: the 'sigh trick' to lose weight
Kathy Bates (Misery, Fried Green Tomatoes) lost a lot of weight in 2019. How? As she told Us Weekly, she avoided junk food and soft drinks and listened to her body. A trick she learned from her niece. "He told me this little secret, I guess it's a biological thing, that at some point when you're eating, you have an involuntary sigh and that's really your brain and your stomach communicating that you've had enough," he said. "The trick is to pay attention to that and move your plate away." "I wish I would have done that years ago."
Drew Barrymore: constant battle with the scale
The actress gained about 10 kilos at a difficult stage in her life, but she brought it back in 2016 and lost it again.
Throughout her career, we've seen Drew Barrymore grow up, gain weight, and lose weight. One of the recent turning points in her life was the series Santa Clarita Diet (Netflix) and her character Sheila.
"There came a time in my life where I had been abandoned by personal circumstances, and I thought, 'I could come alive with Sheila,'" she told Today. Drew followed nutritionist Kimberly Snyder's methods, but added: "proteins like fish and chicken since she's a vegetarian or vegan." It was not easy! "I'm still dreaming and crying about the pizza," she admitted.
