According to The Blast, the interpreter of "Therefore I Am" would be the victim of harassment by a 23-year-old man. The alleged stalker, whose identity has not been revealed, would have been camped out in front of her family home since August 2020, a few meters from her door.
In documents collected by the publication, Eilish would have confirmed the fear and anxiety caused by this situation and would have requested a restraining order. "I fear for my safety, I fear for the safety of my family, and I fear losing my sense of peace and quiet and security in my home and personal space as a result of the repeated instances of harassment." This is how Billie began her statement before the court. Some words are already overwhelming, but they are only the beginning of a report full of details regarding what happened.
"For almost six months, an individual who has identified himself as [the man] has harassed and threatened me while I was camping across the street from my family's home." An action that would have been accompanied by "disturbing and threatening" letters whose objective would be to the singer. According to the site, some of the shipments would contain messages such as "You know that soon the water will rise, and you may die... You will die. Why are you dying?"
"Every time I drive home, I am filled with anxiety and fear knowing that he is there waiting for me. And he usually is," she said in the complaint. "I no longer feel safe leaving my house and exercising in my neighborhood, because he could try to get close and hurt me. Every time I see him I just want to scream" concluded the "Bad Guy" interpreter.
